I spent my elementary years in the streets of uptown Manhattan, NY. I was born in the Bronx but after three months my mother dropped off to my fathers home which he shared with his Haitian mother. The Fredrick Douglass projects of uptown Manhattan, between 103rd and 104th street, was not a good place to reside because of the violence and crime right outside the doors of my apartment building. On that same block I went to my after school program called Children's Aid Society where all the kids in the diverse community spent their hours while their parents worked late shifts. Being a young girl of mixed decent raised in the streets of Manhattan I was extremely smart but I chose, like any other kid would, to spend my time playing on the streets than putting time into my education. After elementary school I moved to Medford, MA, where I currently reside, to be shown a newer way of life where education was my only responsibility and changes were necessary for my progress.
Coming to Massachusetts I was able to discover my talents and aspirations in a safer and nurturing environment. I started to enjoy things I thought I could never see for myself; dancing, performing, writing poetry, singing, and even fashion. I currently work at a boutique called Francesca's where I work happily as the best sales associate. I continue to write poetry and sing, mostly on my own, but not any less fervently and occasionally performing at local open mics. I definitely enjoy being a unique soul and seeking out my calling.
I believe in being completely honest and having respect, both for yourself and those around you. I am a pretty quiet and reserved person but also very outgoing. I will do the unexpected just because I know I can. I am the person you meet who will tell you to follow your heart and do what makes you happiest because I believe life is too short to waste time on things that cant help your progress on your quest to success. Being a 19 year old black woman whose success and happiness is in her own hands I try to bring as much positivity around me as feasible. Most of my friends would say I am brutally honest but mean well. I am known to be loyal and respectful as any mothers prized work of life. I might have some trouble being humble but I can always focus myself on whatever needs my time and effort, as long as the outcome is income. I have once came across these wise words that have stuck to me ever since, aspire to inspire, and those are words to live by. I have every intention of making my life great meaning I will impact others and encourage them to find their happiness and love for life.
Affirmation: I trust my inner light and intuition to guide me.
I am my own instructor
Teaching is not in my job
description,
Reality is my classroom.
Under water I can breathe
Sub zero temperatures couldn't
freeze me
Tomorrow is a new journey.
Maps are for those lacking an
inner compass
Youth is your given opportunity
to gather knowledge and build success,
Ive known few people that can
comprehend the complex
None of which made it though
college,
Never have I needed the
assistance of others to make any progress.
Enough learning can sometimes be
too much
Reality can teach us more about
topics that others wont touch,
Leaving the necessary out for us
to fend ourselves.
I've given myself no
boundaries,
Going beyond the borderlines I've
discovered gold far more precious than those discovered in coal mines
Having the strength to do it
myself helped me discover my own wealth
Thus I put myself in a better
position
And these new findings gave me a
better transition
Now there's nothing missing,
Dare to skip the reminiscing.
I've found there's nothing worse
than dwelling
No use in looking back if that's
not where you're going
The best experiences are the ones
you give into without knowing,
Under estimating your inner
capacity can stunt your growing.
Internally over flowing
Till you see lights
In your horizon
Only thing that can make your
nights brighten
Neither cold or night could keep
me out of this fight
To be strong will show your true
light
Over knowledge there's only
life
Given opportunity to choose what
you truly like
Under pressure is better cause it
could make you the number one contender
Indecisive nature can mean an open mind
Doing what pleases your soul most can give you the ability to stop time
Ending your troubles can be easier than you may find
Making happiness can be the fruit from only one vine
Enough doubting yourself, time to grow a healthy spine
